About Us

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...

Our Club began in 1992 as a response to increasing gang activity and youth violence in Bloomfield. Community members from many walks of life banded together to find a solution, and it was decided to organize a Boys & Girls Club. This national organization has a reputation for providing high quality programs for at-risk youth. In October of 1993, the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomfield became incorporated and was chartered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Since that time, the Club has called many places home – from a garage to the building that once housed Bloomfield's first post office. With a growing population and a need for space to conduct the variety of current programs as well as potential programs that are offered in other Boys & Girls Clubs, the Board of Directors made plans and began seeking ways to raise funds for a larger facility. A capital campaign was started and approximately $1 million dollars was raised for a new facility. In August 2004, our dream of having a new building of our own became a reality.
